The IAP2 award celebrates the organisation or project that best demonstrates how public participation strengthened decision-making in a transparent manner. The entry was required to show how the community helped shape key decisions on the multi-million dollar road project.
The contentious development, which is being managed by national construction contractor Macmahon, for Main Roads Western Australia, is a major link in Perth’s arterial road network comprising 4km of freeway, three traffic bridges, a pedestrian overpass and relocation of a metropolitan train line.
The award win was particularly exciting for Creative Nature which was appointed in October 2006 to design the public relations and stakeholder engagement strategy for the project. This is the latest in an ongoing portfolio of community relations wor on major road developments such as Roe 7 Alliance (Clough/Main Roads), ALine East and Access Alliances (Brierty/Main Roads) and Millstream Alliance (Macmahon/Main Roads) and ongoing relationships with national civil constructors Abigroup and FRH.
Creative Nature’s role on Mitchell Freeway ranges from strategic consultancy for the Macmahon project team, to communication with the Construction Reference Group, local and State Government representatives and the media.
The CNC team also provides design and production support for the project website, shopping centre displays, development of employee communications and indigenous recruitment programs and ongoing newsletters, advertisements and direct mail materials.
